Carbon. It’s not underground anymore. Humanity has been pulling it out of the ground for a good 150 years and there is no sign of slowing the hunger any time soon. Are the odds of reversing a 150 year old habit too insurmountable to even fathom?

I say fathom we must.

It is no mystery any longer, especially in our age of the internet where the latest gossip flies across the world in an instant, that our carbon habits are causing irreparable damage to our home, Earth, and all her inhabitants. So I won’t belabour the point today.

What is at the forefront of every educated person’s mind is:

How much time do we have and how can we reverse it?

Now before your fingers start flying and pointing at those individuals with copious initials behind their name and you concede to them the responsibility of making decisions that will forever change the course of your life, of your loved ones, of your children, and of humanity itself, let me clarify the term “educated” with a quote from Napoleon Hill.

“An educated person is not, necessarily, one who has an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated person is one who has so developed the faculties of their mind that they may acquire anything that they want, or its equivalent, without violating the rights of others.”

Hmmm….Anything? (as the Cadbury secret-guarding devil would say)

Based on this definition NOW re-evaluate your original assumption of who is truly “educated”.

  • Would an “educated” person be the CEO of a fossil fuel corporation?
  • How about the members of the Board of Directors of a big water corporation?
  • Or any number of PhDs racing for corporate patents in the GMO industry?
  • Perhaps an abusive spouse with a B.Sc., an MBA, and founder of an L.L.P.?

Are these individuals acquiring what they want? You bet! Have they developed the faculties of their mind? To a certain extent, yes. BUT are they doing so in a way so as to NOT violate the rights of others? I think not!

These people may very well be successful but they are NOT “educated”.

“So what?” you say. “As long as I have monetary and personal success I can live without being considered educated. Isn’t that just another designation to stick at the end of my name anyway? Na-na na-na-na.”

Oooo. Great comeback. You obviously have a thinking mind. YES!!! So let’s exercise it a little shall we?

If our future lies in the hands of those we call “educated” and our definition of “educated” only includes their titles, diplomas, experience, and ability to acquire whatever they so please, then if follows that we wouldn’t need any third-party studies on the effects of carbon in the atmosphere, or on bottled water quality and regional desertification due to mass water movement, or on the fatal consequences of injecting pesticides into the DNA of our crops and through ingestion into our own DNA and that of our fellow earthlings.

Would you, a thinking and I dare say “educated” Woman Not Waiting, willingly bestow onto the abusive spouse with the impressive credentials the responsibility for your own welfare? Onto someone who knowingly violates YOUR rights?

“Hail No!” You scream as your heels hit the pavement hard and leave the Magna Cum Laude prodigy in the dust.

Well, letting corporations and the politicians they own dictate the future of our home, Earth, and ALL her inhabitants amounts to abuse on a global scale.

Rest assured that the question at the forefront of those minds is not “How much time do we have and how can we reverse it?” but rather “How much time do we have and how can we profit from it?”

A new Black Market is emerging between the carbon polluters and geoengineering firms with “safe” cleanup technologies and disposal mechanisms (read: carbon garbage dumps). The constant pollute-and-clean cycle is poised to create billions of dollars for a new breed of so-called green corporations all the while maintaining our throwaway lifestyle. But there is a catch…

…Water.

Water is poisoned to produce the dirty fuel and water is poisoned to clean it up.

Gratefully, the truly “educated” minds are speaking up, working together, publishing their findings, tweeting, blogging, acting, and re-assuming the responsibility they once entrusted onto the false educated.

They are the Stewards. They are every Woman Not Waiting. They need no titles. And they wear killer heels.

  • Keep supporting alternative energies
  • Keep signing petitions to stop fossil fuel subsidies
  • Keep eliminating plastic from your life
  • Keep working towards that electric car purchase
  • Keep buying local and organic

Every new educated habit counts.
